Prof. Costas Galiotis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Costas_Galiotis), is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Patras and Collaborating Faculty at the Institute of Chemical Engineering Sciences (ICE-HT), Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH). With over four decades of research experience, he is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in graphene mechanics, CVD growth of 2D materials, lightweight polymer composites and nanocomposites, non-destructive testing etc. A chemist by training with a PhD in Materials Science from Queen Mary University of London, he has held senior leadership positions including Executive Director of FORTH/ICE-HT, Director of the Physical Sciences Program at HFRI (ELIDEK), and member of the Executive Council of the Graphene Flagship, where he led the Composites Work Package (2013–2023). His group has managed over 50 large-scale European and national research projects totaling over €100 million in value, including two ERC grants. He has authored over 400 peer-reviewed publications which have been cited ~30000 times. His technological innovations have led to multiple international patents (US, EPO, PCT) and successful industrial collaborations with major companies including Airbus, BAe, BASF, ABB, LEONARDO, etc. He is Editor-in-Chief of Graphene and 2D Materials (Springer-Nature) and serves on the editorial boards of Scientific Reports and International Materials Reviews.
