Ahmed Al-Ostaz
Ahmed Al-Ostaz is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi and
an internationally recognised expert in computational mechanics, multiscale modelling,
and simulation-driven materials design. His research integrates continuum mechanics,
molecular dynamics, and numerical methods to understand and predict the behaviour of
advanced materials and structures under extreme loading and environmental conditions.
His work spans applications in nanocomposites, graphene-reinforced materials, fracture
and damage mechanics, and multifunctional systems relevant to aerospace, defence, and
space technologies. He has led and contributed to numerous interdisciplinary projects
combining theory, computation, and experiment. Within the Topical Team, his expertise
supports predictive modelling of advanced materials, structural integrity assessment,
and the development of resilient materials and systems for future space applications.
